How to use this list
A moderate payout ratio is only one sign of dividend safety — it says nothing about debt, cash flow or how cyclical the business is. In cyclical industries (commodities, shipping) a good year's profit can halve the next year.
This is not a conclusion — it is a starting point for research. Each stock's page shows its halal ratios and reasons; study the business, its reports and its price chart separately.
Halal status is re-checked daily and can change. Before buying, check the latest screening date on the stock's page. Screening methodology

Frequently asked questions
- Why cap the payout ratio at 75%?
- A company that pays out most of its profit has no room left when earnings dip except to cut the dividend. 75% is a common cutoff that leaves a buffer; it is not an absolute rule.
- How is this different from the plain dividend list?
- This one only includes large (at least $10B), profitable companies that can fund the dividend from earnings. The plain list ranks by yield alone.
- Which stocks lead the list right now?
- As of 2026-10-15: Gold Fields Limited (GFI), Novo Nordisk A/S (NVO), Infosys Limited (INFY), Canadian Natural Resources Limi (CNQ), Chevron Corporation (CVX). In total 18 stocks meet the criteria.
- Is this list investment advice?
- No. It is the output of an automatic filter on public data; the criteria are written on the page. No stock is recommended for purchase and this is not a fatwa.
- How often is the list updated?
- The page is rebuilt every 30 minutes. Prices update every 5 minutes, technicals (RSI, 52-week high, 1-year performance) after each trading day closes, and fundamentals (P/E, dividend, ROE) every few days.
- Where does the halal rating come from?
- From our own AAOIFI-style screener: prohibited business activity, interest-bearing debt, cash and interest-income ratios are checked. The methodology page lists the thresholds and sources.
